The Little Sisters of
the Poor have served low asset and low income elderly in the Los
Angeles metropolitan area for 94 years. Their San Pedro facility
provides residential, assisted living and skilled nursing care for
90 residents. The Little Sisters provide life-long security and care
for the elderly in a home-like setting. Thoughtful attention, spiritual
support and appropriate medical care without regard to ethnic or
religious background surround each resident.
The residents of the
Jeanne Jugan Residence are offered many amenities and daily activities.
A beauty parlor, gift shop and library are all provided for the residents.
There is a chapel at the facility where Mass is celebrated daily.
Bingo, ceramics, parties and shopping trips are just some of the
activities available to the residents.
The Foundation’s respect for the work of the Little Sisters of
the Poor has roots in Mrs. Doheny’s fondness for their mission.
In addition to an annual Christmas contribution, capital contributions
over the years include the recent acquisition of new hospital beds. |
